The Band

Twas a hot summer's day in July, a tall larger than life character sporting a loud Hawaiian shirt 'n' shades strolls past a sun worshipper strumming a Fender Acoustic seated cross-legged on the beach fully flip flopped up.

"Alright?"

"Alright?" was the first exchange. Both cagey. Two Londoners on a quiet Devon beach. "You a muso then?" says the figure , casting a shadow.

"yeah" says the sunworshipper.

"I use to sing that tune you're playin son" says the Ray Banned figure.

"Chuck Berry" says the flip flopped one.

"Gotta speak as you find my man, them's mighty fine licks you're playin" quipped the big figure.

Having moved to Devon Johnny was tryin damned hard to form a band he'd always wanted, he had been an accomplished bass player on the Blues circuit in London and just needed to pick up the Geetar and play his love ...
Rock 'n' Roll

A chance meeting with Fast Freddie who had near stardom in the past started thing's movin'.

Lew on drums joined from a previous band he worked in with Johnny on Bass and Charlie F Finally filled the Bass position on the left wing!!.

They Shook hands and hugged, like men do. The Daddies began......

The rest is history.

Fast Freddie
Fast Freddie

Fast Freddie Horton Front Man and Lead Vocals

  • The big man has been a legend on the South London scene since the early eighties. Album, T.V. Radio and all the major venues but now he’s come back to where he started, making the Memphis moves. Big heart, big voice “First I wanted to sound like Little Richard then I wanted to sound like Robert Plant then I realised Robert Plant wanted to be Little Richard, anyway I’m being me, whoever I am.. Somewhere between Billy Fury and The Big Bopper with a touch of Little Richard.” Freddie’s great vocals and unique rapport with the audience are a big part of the show.
Johnny Davies
Johnnny Davies

Johnny Davies Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Vocals

  • As well as being a great guitar man Johnny is also an accomplished bass player. Cutting his teeth with a some 'top' South London outfits before moving to Devon in 2001 and playing guitar around the Rock ‘n’ Roll scene. Johnny now lives near London. Freddie says his drive and enthusiasm for the music is what floats the Daddies boat. If you listen to his playing you may have already guessed it, but having met the great man a few times and nicked all his pedal settings, YUP, Scotty Moore is his main man.
Lewie Lewis
Lewie Lewis

Lewie Lewis Drums and occasional percussion, backing vocals

  • Quite simply, the elder statesman of the Daddies, with a great love and appreciation of the roots music. He has played all genres from skiffle to swing. No flowery rolls and toms for our Lew. Cited Jerry Allison as his wanna be. He is the engine room of the Daddies. His motto, which we all try to line up to is K. I. S. S. Keep It Simple Son!!!
Charlie 'Morph' Farnsbarn
shadow image of morph

Charlie Farnsbarn, Bass, Backing vocals

  • We call Charlie 'The Man of Many Faces' simply because of his frequent change of image. He goes by the nickname of 'Morph'... A man so mysterious, even
The Mysterons are puzzled...he comes and he goes, but the Bass is ever solid.
